Research Notes
On Thursday, June 21, I was able to meet with Marla who I had corresponded with last year on my E-Government paper regarding "smart communities", Spokane being recognized as one by the Digital Communities Foundation. Marla works for Spokane Downtown Partnership. I then went to the City offices that are house in an Art Deco architecture, which I forgot to take pictures of. I spoke with the COO, John, and had a longer conversation with Brenda, an assistant to the GIS department. She commented on a stormwater project using GIS to determine impacts of a nearby glacier that had shifted and noted the Cour D 'Elene Tribal Government uses GIS to manage their resources.
